AI Job Description for Hiring a Service Tech

To write a job description for a service tech with AI, give it the real facts of the role: trade, license level, pay range, schedule, on-call rotation, truck and tool policy, and what a normal day looks like. The prompt below turns those facts into a clear job post that tells good candidates exactly what they're signing up for.

Copy-paste prompt
Write a job post for a [ROLE, e.g. residential HVAC service technician] at [COMPANY] in [CITY/AREA].
Facts (use only these, don't add perks I didn't list):
- Pay: [RANGE + how it's paid, e.g. hourly + commission]
- Schedule: [DAYS/HOURS], on-call: [ROTATION OR "none"]
- Required: [LICENSE/CERTS, years of experience, driver's license]
- Nice to have: [SKILLS]
- Truck/tools: [POLICY]
- Benefits: [LIST OR "none listed"]
- A normal day: [2-3 SENTENCES]
- Why people like working here: [HONEST REASONS]
Format: a 2-sentence opening that says what the job is and the pay range, then "What you'll do," "What you need," "What we offer," and "How to apply: [HOW]." Plain language, no buzzwords like "rockstar" or "fast-paced environment." Under 350 words.

Before you post

  1. Check every fact the AI wrote against your list. Delete anything it added.
  2. Put the pay range near the top. Some states and cities require pay ranges in job posts; check your local rules.
  3. Ask AI for 5 short screening questions for this role, to use on the first phone call.
  4. Post it, then ask AI to shorten it into a 2-line version for social media.

Keep requirements job-related. Avoid wording about age, gender, family status, or other protected traits. General information, not legal advice.
